Penelope's closet

...which I envy.

Sometimes I see things and I think "Penelope would wear that." And then I think, "Could I wear that? And look as awesome as Penelope did?" I tried. Well, I bought some shoes that were Penelope-esque but have never worn them. I'm waiting for that perfect outfit...maybe I should just go shopping. Looking at Modcloth really doesn't help me curb this obsession. Neither does Anthropologie. But then again, the shoes are sleeping nicely in my storage unit in Pasadena. In LA, you can wear whatever you want. Chances are, there are 100+ more people in the city dressed the exact same way. In Hawaii, not so much. Not like I push the envelope in LA or anything. HAH. Anyway, getting to the point. Penelope's outfits=pure awesomeness. Yay for being girly and happy and fun.

Enter the art of layering.

1. A fun long sleeve basic tee, like this one, from Uniqlo.
2. A cute dress. Like this one, from Modcloth. Humming Soon dress.

3. Colorful tights!! Green--why not? From Modcloth
4. Next--a fun coat! Dun dun dunnnn. This Fair Lady Trench from Anthropologie is awesome. Colored coats are fun. This one is obviously neutral.

4a. Okay, or this one, from Shopbop. The Bow Trench Coat.

5. Andddd the SHOOOOES!! Best part of the outfit. Some Olga Suede Platform Booties from Chie Mihara.

Too bad this outfit is meant for fall. And Hawaii doesn't quiiiiite have a fall season. Well, not even doesn't quite. We don't. Sooo I will wait for when I move back to Southern California to bust this out. Ahahahahha. Not much of a difference in seasons. Guess I'll have to go on fall vacation.

New Project

Yay, with lots of free time this week, it's the perfect time for me to figure out my new planter boxes my Grandpa built for me. Yesterday Mom and I went out to Lowe's to get supplies. We got netting to line the bottom, a bag of river rocks (30 lbs, what??), a big bag of potting soil, 2 pots of rosemary, 2 pots of basil, one big pot of cherry tomatoes, one of parsley and one of spearmint. This morning I went to Koolau Farmers and got one cilantro and one oregano. I got the last cilantro at Koolau Farmers, and would still like to get one or two more. Yum.

So I started putting everything together this morning and I ran out of potting soil. Lame. I even went back and added more river rocks on the bottom, which was quite a feat, considering there was tons of soil already on top. But, good thing I lined the bottom with netting, so I could just grab both sides of the net, lift it up, and put it in the other box while I added more rocks. Genius moment. I had to go under the house to grab cement blocks to put under the planters and was randomly glad that we don't have bats down there. Under the house is a scary, dank place. Sad to think that I used to want to make that my "hangout spot" when I was younger.

The cherry tomato plant will go in a separate planter, given its "take over everything" mentality. But I still need soillllllllllllllllllll.

I hope these plants don't die. I don't necessarily have a good track record with growing things.

Raena and Timothy are here!! Yayyy. He and I had some fun in PhotoBooth tonight. :)

He was thrilled! Hahahah. Obviously.

Well, I'm sitting here while watching KHNL at 2:45am, waiting to see how the earthquake in Japan will affect Hawaii. Everyone is asleep, sleeping through the tsunami warning alert. I am tired but will prevail in staying up to see what happens.

So my awesome cousin, Rebekah (see her here), told me about this site, Pinterest, where you can "Pin" things you see online. I'm now obsessed. Now I purposely go online just so I can pin things. Ahahah. It's good to feel like there are people out there who are into the same things as me.

Some of my favorite things. Is this weird?

1* My cute cute cute nephew Timothy. Born on December 4th and currently weighs 16 lbs. Whatttttt. Can't wait for my sister and the baybay to visit in March!

2* This Marc Jacobs bag. Yes please.

3* Necklace from...I forget where.

4* Yelp. Best idea ever. Erica and I's best friend.

5* New glasses.

6* Neutrogena Advanced Solutions. For the past couple months, I haven't been able to find this set anywhere. I was freaking out. I even resorted to looking for it on eBay. Someone in Australia was selling it for $50-something. But, today, just when I was about to try something else, I saw this on the shelf at Target!! So...I bought two.

7* Watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The season just ended--good thing The Real Housewives of New York will start soon.

8* Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish. Plum's the Word. Best nail polish ever.

9* Eating with Erica. We are champions.

10* Der-How!! I will see him in March, hooray!
